Filmmaker Grants News
Houston's loveliest microcinema, the Aurora Picture Show, has leapt into the DVD world by starting their own label and they've just announced their second release: LOST BROADCASTS: VIDEOS BY EILEEN MAXSON. Eileen Maxson just so happens to be a former TFPF recipient, receiving a $500 distribution grant in 2004 for her VIDEO WORKS 2002-2004.
Eileen frequently stars in her own short videos, which "record characters struggling with an unrequited love of television... women trapped in forgotten scraps of VHS, and frequently sabotaged by technical difficulties." Her work has screened at festivals and galleries from NYC to Tel Aviv and she has been called a "transmedia Cindy Sherman for the Myspace generation" by the Village Voice.
While you should certainly pay full price for the entire DVD, you can get a preview of some of her work on her Youtube profile (check out the Court TV one for maximum creepiness).
