During the Balkan wars of the early 1990s, three drunk Croatian soldiers plot to blow up the home of a Serb who lives in their village but is reportedly out of town. When he comes to the door, they panic and shoot him. When they realize there is a witness, his eleven-year-old daughter, they have an even greater dilemma – to kill her in truly cold blood or to release her and accept their fate. This is a magnificent wartime suspense tale relayed from different points of view, which remind us that various ethnic groups lived together in the former Yugoslavia but became bitter enemies once the central government disintegrated.
