An alcoholic middle-aged man, Cahit Tomruk, has stripped himself of all vestiges of his Turkish roots, but when he realizes he is left with nothing, he determines suicide is his way out of depression. As with so many things, he fails and ends up in rehab, where he meets Sibel, another suicidal Turkish-German. The younger woman sees something in Cahit we can’t – a means of escaping her conservative family. She proposes they get married – in name only – and live together. This seems to be a good deal for both – he gets a clean apartment, she gets freedom, but an almost inevitable love complicates and sweetens the arrangement. -- Chale Nafus, Director of Programming, Austin Film Society
