Presented by Benn Bundy One man's world is about to become a bit more colorful. John Wentworth comes home after years of running to claim what is his after the death of his parents. But what little remains of John's once illustrious family is at risk. The local lending institution is no longer local, and they have sent woman of color Theresa to take what is left to satisfy an old debt. To John, nothing could be more debilitating. Theresa, though, is not without distress of her own. She has been struggling up the corporate ladder for 15 years, and has never considered she was hired for any reason other than her qualifications--until now. A measured blend of farce, satire, and gravity, SALLY BOY chronicles the dark emotional drama between a White man and a Black woman who must face their personal torment in the other's company, all while observed by a funny and intelligent Black community foreign to them both. As a younger man, Writer/Director/Producer Benn Bundy discovered the works of satirist William Brann, A Texas writer who fought a rhetorical war against religious, social, and racial hypocrisy. By integrating the writing of Brann into his first feature film, the filmmaker has followed the spirit and style of the author who was partial inspiration for this student. |
