The Physics Teacher

|

Presented by Scott P. Harris

Post-screening discussion moderated by Bryan Poyser

About THE PHYSICS TEACHER:

Sohail Khan is a former college professor from Pakistan who fought against the Taliban in the 70's and had to escape to America. Today he is a high school teacher in suburban Dallas. THE PHYSICS TEACHER tells the story of Mr. Khan and his students over the course of a school year as they compete in a robotics competition, prep for the AP exam and learn the true meaning of Christmas. This project was supported by an AMD/Microsoft Technology Grant from the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund in 2006.

Director's Bio:

Director/Producer/Cinematographer/Editor Scott P. Harris has been making documentaries since graduating from UT in 2003. He has worked any film job he could find in the hope that it would prepare him to one day return to get his Masters degree. Much to his chagrin, he can no longer remember the First Law of Thermodynamics.
