Community Film Calendar

Course Description:
Writers of all skill levels are welcome! During the 12 week course we will discuss structure and screenplay format, how to create dynamic characters and sequences, and the process of outlining and creating a beat sheet in preparation to write your feature script.  Each student (or in some cases sets of writing partners) will workshop a feature film idea from pitch to completion of the first draft.  The class will be capped at 8 students so each participant will receive plenty of feedback and discussion on the work they present. I'll be there every step of the way to make sure writers stay on track to finish, I even bake cookies if you turn in pages ahead of schedule.

Information about Instructor Stephanie Whallon:
Stephanie Whallon received her MFA from the Columbia University School of the Arts Graduate Film Program in 2003 and since then she has worked in film production in New York, Los Angeles, and all over the world. While in Los Angeles she worked for several years at Warner Bros Pictures and Malpaso Productions on films likeFlags of Our Fathers, Changeling, The Dark Knight, and Gran Torino. As a screenwriter she has won several festival awards for her comedy writing. Having recently relocated to Austin, she currently works for the Texas Film Commission and teaches screenwriting in her spare time.
