Yorgos Simeoforidis is paroled from prison after serving four years for an undisclosed crime. Like a modern-day Ulysses, he is adrift on the streets of Athens, surrounded by a multitude of people from the far-flung regions of the Mediterranean. When his attention settles on a young Albanian mother and daughter, tension rises with uncertainty about his purposes in following them to school, to work, and to their home. An unsavory group of nationalistic Greek soccer hooligans obviously knew Yorgos before his imprisonment and now want to treat him like “family,” but he wants nothing to do with them since they would stand in the way of his need to make a “correction” before achieving forgiveness and redemption. CORRECTION is a very personal, almost private, tale of suspense set against contemporary inter-ethnic struggles within Greece.
