Although I was raised in Dallas, Texas, I relocated to Austin in pursuit of a double major at the University of Texas in Radio-Television-Film and Communication Studies. It was the film school at UT that inspired me to pursue a career in sound design for film. As a kid I would love to watch scary movies and would often find myself more affected by the sound than the actual imagery, since I would cover my eyes during the scary parts. I have always had a passion for editing sound since high school, where I would DJ at house parties and create numerous mix-tapes. I was originally inspired by the turntable battles in the movie JUICE. My idols were DJs like Mixmaster Mike and Q-Bert and I would study their performances for hours trying to master their techniques. Over the years, I’ve had opportunities to DJ at club Sutton in Barcelona, Spain as well as a local job as a DJ for Maggie Mae’s on 6th Street. I love music and am a music festival junkie. Besides my DJing, I also play piano and guitar.
My favorite movie of all time is THE SEVENTH SEAL. Once I graduate from UT this May, I’d like to continue to be a part of the Austin Film Society and hopefully through hard work and determination, I can follow my dream of becoming a sound designer for the Austin film community.
