It was clear from the start that I had an affinity for the world of film. In many of my earliest memories, I was donning my favorite blue- and white-checkered dress, a pair of shiny ruby-red shoes, and a large red bow placed precariously on top my head. After a summer of watching Peter Pan, I spent a good part of Kindergarten wearing a tall feather straight up in my hair. When I was in fifth grade I tried to create a staged re-production of Hocus Pocus. It was not until sixth grade, however, that I realized that I was going to pursue a career in filmmaking.

I was twelve years old and left to my own demise for a few hours in a room at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis Tennessee. With one click of the remote, a six-dollar charge to my mother’s hotel bill, and 2 hours and 58 minutes of pure fascination, the light finally came on. Martin Scorsese’s CASINO is not only responsible for the last 12 years of my life, but is also responsible for the yearlong obsession with Gangster films that followed.

So, here I am, a new-comer to Austin from the wonderful state that produces corn and a 600 lb butter sculpture of a cow – Go Hawks. That’s Iowa, for those who don’t know. Not to be confused with Idaho. Or Ohio.
