Recorded on Friday, October 24 at AFS at the Marchesa

“This is the greatest day of my life!”  - Dan Harmon, during the AFS  HARMONTOWN event.

Austin Film Society, in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse, hosted a special sold-out screening and Q&A for HARMONTOWN, with special guests Dan Harmon, Erin McGathy, Neil Berkeley and Spencer Crittenden in attendance on Friday October 24, 2014, at AFS at the Marchesa.

HARMONTOWN, the movie, tells the story of writer-comedian and kindred-spirit-to-nerds Dan Harmon's cross-country podcast tour after being fired from the very show he created, popular sitcom "Community". From director Neil Berkeley, HARMONTOWN tells Dan Harmon's story - highs, lows and everything in between. The documentary features interviews with past and present collaborators Sarah Silverman, Jack Black, Allison Brie, Joel McHale and more, as well as introducing us to Dan's passionate army of fans ("Harmenians") across the country.  Of the movie, Harmon says: "HARMONTOWN is a fascinating glimpse into the mind of a man that would quote himself saying that a movie about him is fascinating. It’s more than a documentary. It’s your chance to figure out what’s wrong with me while cutting me in on the profit.”

After the HARMONTOWN screening, guests ate snacks from Mission Hot Dogs and Travaasa's Farm Food Truck before heading back into the theater for a LIVE recording of the Harmontown podcast with extra special guest LeVar Burton in attendance.

During the rowdy podcast, Spencer assumed his role as Dungeon Master for a live Dungeons and Dragons game on the stage, Dan and a guest from the audience reinvented the "Reading Rainbow" theme song as a rap hit, and LeVar Burton agreed to do a reading at Dan and Erin's wedding!

After the podcast, the Harmontown team joined fans for an after party at Guzu Gallery with refreshments provided by Austin Beerworks.
