SEEKERS documents the year-long immersion experience of three families and two individuals, as they learn to harvest resources from the land and live within a collaborative wilderness community. Given scant resources, limited knowledge of primitive skills and the diverging emotional and physical needs of each member of the group, the characters struggle to meet their own needs within the context of a larger community. Although the characters come from radically different backgrounds, they share a sense of isolation, unhappiness and emotional insecurity despite increasing interconnectedness through technology and urbanization. As the year draws to a close, we follow the characters as they leave the wilderness camp and attempt to transition back to a “normal” way of life. Their experiences serve as a gateway for a larger discussion about how we as a society can bridge the gaps between loneliness and community and nature and the modern world.
