“This multifaceted meta-movie is at once documentary, musical comedy, faux biopic and real museum exhibition.”
—Jordan Mintzer, Variety
“It captures the artistry, ingenuity and humor of its subject better than an encyclopedic history ever could – a music doc for whom success, in the spirit of Pavement, looks very different.”
—Little White Lies
This new doc about the American indie band Pavement combines scripted material with documentary images of the band and a musical mise-en-scene composed of songs from their discography. This is not a straight-ahead music doc by any means but rather an often funny meditation on the meaning of music and, well, life itself. Written and directed by Alex Ross Perry (THE COLOR WHEEL, HER SMELL, LISTEN UP PHILIP.)
See Pavement live on Sunday, September 28, during LEVITATION 2025 at the Palmer Events Center. Tickets and more info here.
