This new Korean action movie is a throwback to the grimy, neon-lit Hollywood thrillers of the ’70s and ’80s and their ’90s Hong Kong gun-fu counterparts. There’s nothing quite as thrilling as an action movie done well and this one is just right.

When a brutal crime boss (played by an angry bear of a man named Don Lee) is ambushed and attacked by an emo serial killer named ‘K’, he swears to do anything to get revenge, even teaming up with his nemesis, the swaggering tough guy detective he and his men despise. Set in the sleazy underbelly of Seoul’s criminal underworld where life is cheaper than the fraudulent gift cards that are the coin of the realm, this movie immerses you in an excitingly amoral game of cat and mouse.

“Director/writer Lee Won-tae keeps the pace moving swiftly, showing off an energetic sensibility that heralds a new voice on the South Korean film scene.” – Cary Darling, Houston Chronicle

“As much fun as it is to watch Lee beat people up and strut around in shiny pinstripe suits, it’s just as much of a pleasure to watch him think it all through.” – Jessica Klang, Variety

“Delivers the goods at every turn… a nice counterbalance to the recent glut of uninspired Hollywood tentpole blockbusters currently taking up way too much space.” – Andrew Parker, The Gate
