The Austin Film Society's Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards recognize outstanding actors, directors, screenwriters, musicians, producers and films from, influenced or inspired by the Lone Star State. The Awards, founded in 2001, help to raise awareness of the impact of film on economy and community and to raise funds for the year-round programs of the Austin Film Society, including the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund, which in 2009 will have given over $1 million in cash, goods and services to emerging Texas filmmakers.
