This hands-on lab in Studio 1 is designed to demonstrate how a live (or recorded) production actually works. Using the skills you learned in the Studio 1 training class, you’ll spend time refreshing on the studio devices while setting up, practicing in the control room directing and running the show, and then breaking it all down the right way. The session is led by Tyler Carpenter, an experienced Studio 1 producer who has been producing his own weekly show in Studio 1 for several years and brings a wealth of hands-on knowledge to the class.

This class is only for those that have completed the full length Studio 1 class or Crew Certification. 

Topics covered:

• Studio setup workflow and crew coordination

• Lighting techniques

• Camera placement, framing, and basic studio blocking

• Crew roles and communication during a live production

• Control room and studio floor workflows during a live switch

• Strike procedures, reset standards, and cleanup best practices

Our classes do not have age limits, however, the Producer Program is limited to ages 15 and up. For minors attending classes, we require a parent or legal guardian sign THIS WAIVER. Please email a signed copy back to austinpublic@austinfilm.org or bring it in person on or before the class date.
