Build Your Creative Skills with AFS
AFS provides Continuing Education courses and workshops for anyone looking to grow their professional skills, gain hands-on experience in film, TV, and digital media, and meet new people. Each week of the AFS Summer Education Series will highlight a different topic — such as directing and writing — with classes that cover the basics and offer new training sessions.
Week 1: DIRECTING
July 6–10
Join us for one week of Continuing Education classes on directing. This series focuses on both narrative and documentary directing, with topics including a breakdown of the director’s craft, working with actors, applying techniques through hands-on exercises, and more. In addition, you’ll hear from working directors about their experiences and get the opportunity to ask them questions, all to enhance your professional development.

Week 2: WRITING
July 20–24
Hone your craft with a week of Continuing Education classes on writing. The series includes practical courses on storytelling, screenwriting, and crafting a pitch for television. You’ll learn all about screenwriting basics, story development, and more through lectures and creative exercises taught by industry professionals.
