Alejandro Jodorowsky's gorgeous, ingenious film is a bold, bright, vulgar essay in the power of dimestore mythography. A young boy, raised in a Mexican circus by a knifethrowing father with Homeric appetites and a hysterically religious mother, grows up to be a pretty odd adult, as you might expect. His relationship with his mother is particularly unhealthy, as is his obsession with the Invisible Man. A completely astonishing and amazing movie. Not for the weak!
