Artist Intensive

The AFS Artist Intensive is a multi-day, invitational retreat that takes place annually in the fall. Days are filled with work, focus and mentorship for emerging Texas narrative feature filmmakers poised for career leaps. The Artist Intensive includes meetings, screenplay readings and rehearsals with a cast of guest actors and has been instrumental in providing artists with creative feedback, resources and momentum for their projects. The participants are writer-directors in the development phase each with a project that has not yet gone into production. Participants are selected from the applicant pool for the previous year’s AFS Grant. Over the course of a long weekend, each writer/director team is matched with a writer/director creative advisor and a producing mentor. Each script is read in full and workshopped with a cast of professional actors.
