It was said that the swan seduced Leda. Perhaps it was in pursuit when it crashed through Alba’s window, leaving her an amputee and two twins widowers whose obsession will lead to a tripedal love affair with sex, death, and decomposition.

As the David Attenborough narration tells us, it takes four months for the earth to consume the dried flesh of a swan. With A ZED & TWO NOUGHTS, director Peter Greenaway shows it takes only a day for a human life to reach putrefaction. Featuring the geometrically composed symmetry of cinematographer Sacha Vierny of HIROSHIMA MON AMOUR and music by Michael Nyman, A ZED & TWO NOUGHTS is a perverse psychotronic head-scratcher of zebra carcass-sized proportions.
