Hervé (Philippe Rebbot, L’EFFET AQUATIQUE) is an assembly-line worker whose years of loyal service count for little when his employer shutters its shoe factory in northern France. He uses his severance pay and newly-open schedule to indulge his passion for fishing, but his attempts to turn his hobby into a vocation run afoul of the local authorities. Meanwhile, the shoe factory is reassembled across the Mediterranean in a Tunisian suburb, where Foued (Mohamed Amine Hamzaoui) takes a low-paying job in questionable conditions, forging ahead in the desperate hope of a promotion and a romance with longtime-crush-turned-coworker Karima (Abir Bennai). Both soon make the discovery that “mobility” means one thing for capital and something very different for the workers who toil on its behalf.
