It is chock-full of cinematic suspense, sexual tension, and is perhaps best known for the “Lewton Bus” jump scare scene, which has been studied and copied ever since. Personally, I think the brightest highlight of the movie is Simone Simon in her vulnerable portrayal of Irena. For this piece, I wanted to bring together two of my favourite elements — the unknown terror in the shadows and Irena’s conflicted character.”
