The 1970s held promise of women’s empowerment… And featured two shows about women with actual powers: “Wonder Woman” and “The Bionic Woman.” While the ERA failed to be ratified, these shows radicalized girls (not the least of whom was our guest presenter, writer-performer Rebecca Beegle) by setting examples of boundless female strength and leadership.
