Paul Newman's West presented by Ethan Hawke

There are no current or future screenings planned for this film.

Ethan Hawke will join us live to introduce this screening.

Based on Larry McMurtry’s novel Horseman, Pass By, this is the first of many film adaptations of McMurtry’s works. Paul Newman is iconic as the title character, the hustling but unscrupulous heir to the family cattle ranch. When disaster befalls the operation, the family’s relationships are pushed to the breaking point. A key transitional piece between the old and new Hollywood, and a key example of Paul Newman’s role in creating the post-mythological Hollywood West.
