Capturing the raw power of a grassroots hip-hop movement, the celebrated Austin-based documentary INSIDE THE CIRCLE tells the story of three strikingly talented b-boys. Josh and Omar are former best friends who become rivals when they join competing dance crews. Immersed in the b-boy culture of defiant creativity, Omar rises to international renown, while Josh tangles with the law. Both of them struggle to keep dance at the center of their lives, and the “B-Boy City” competitive events thrown by visionary Austin street dancer Romeo Navarro serve as emotional milestones in their journey to adulthood. As Romeo aptly observes: “If you can hold yourself down in battle, you can hold yourself down in life.”

Ten years ago the acclaimed Austin-based documentary film “Inside the Circle” kicked off its two-year international festival tour and subsequent MTV broadcast with a world premiere and Audience Award at SXSW 2007. We invite you to join the Austin Film Society and the film’s director and subjects in celebrating this very special film’s 10 Year Anniversary!

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Director/Producer Marcy Garriott, Romeo Navarro, and Omar Davila!
