PIONEERS: FIRST WOMEN FILMMAKERS PART 1

DCP

Newly Restored

There are no current or future screenings planned for this film.

In the silent era, it was common for films to be produced and directed by female filmmakers. We have selected two programs of newly restored female-made films from this era.

This is the first program, selected and introduced by Dr. Donna Kornhaber of the University Of Texas. The program will be followed by a discussion period with Dr. Kornhaber.

  1. Mabel Normand, “Mabel’s Blunder” (1914) [16 min.]
  2. Cleo Madison, “Eleanor’s Catch” (1916) [13 min.]
  3. Grace Cunard, “The Purple Mask: Episode 13, Part 1 – The Leap” (1917) [10 min.]
  4. Alla Nazimova, Salome (1923) [71 min.]
