The Texas Archive Of The Moving Image is a non-profit organization working to discover, preserve, provide access to, and educate the community about Texas’ film heritage. The contents of the Archive are enormously varied and fascinating. For this special presentation they have taken a deep dive into their advertisement and corporate collections to bring you a program of both public and private sales persuasion and branding films. On one hand are the commercials and sponsored content of long ago, and on the other hand are the films created for internal use, to spur sales reps and executives onto greater heights and reinforce corporate ethos. The science of persuasion has not changed as much as we might believe, and the total effect of watching these films is to make us consider the whole media landscape around us and how it attempts to sell us narratives about ourselves and others. Also, they’re super funny!
