Jacob Perlin Presents: Habicat for Humanity

There are no current or future screenings planned for this film.

In this Disney sci-fi comedy from 1978, a UFO captained by a cat-like extraterrestrial enlists three scientists to help to repair his damaged spaceship and reunite with his mothership. Featuring a talking cat with a magical collar versus inept army officials and foreign spies, the film is full of silly sight gags and imaginative imagery.

About the series:
Jake Perlin, Artistic and Programming Director of the prestigious NYC arthouse Metrograph, has programmed a series of films about a subject near and dear to his heart- cats. This series runs the gamut, from the family friendly Disney classic THE CAT FROM OUTER SPACE, to Stephen King’s horror film about a family harboring a strange secret in SLEEPWALKERS. Featuring rare oddities and shorts, as well as a live introduction from Perlin before each film.

“Man was created for the cat’s sake, and his only aim is to feed and comfort the cat. He invented a lot of things only for the cat’s profit. Fisherman, cushions, radiators and the radio, because cat’s love music.”
“I am glad to know why I am on earth.”
“So am I.”
– Alain Resnais’ Je t’aime, je t’aime
