“Still rightly considered a classic in everything from its Theremin-enhanced Bernard Herrmann score to its fine pacing and performances, continues to be pointed and timely…”
—Jonathan Rosenbaum

In this sci-fi allegory, a saintly alien named Klaatu, who goes by the name “Carpenter” when in disguise as an earthling, encounters a mixed reception from the human race. The military is hostile but an ordinary single mother and her child welcome him with love. A philosophical sci-fi movie that nonetheless has spaceships and an awesome killer robot.
