Hachimiri Madness: Japanese Indies From The Punk Years

There are no current or future screenings planned for this film.

First, modeled after Kafka’s famous novella, a young man awakes one morning to find his head transformed into a cabbage in TOKYO CABBAGEMAN K (59 min), a freewheeling race through Tokyo from director and former assistant director to Sogo Ishii, Akira Ogata (BOY’S CHOIR). Then, revered arthouse veteran Nobuhiro Suwa (2/DUO, THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT) announced himself to the world with HANASARERU GANG (85 min), a spirited homage to the French New Wave which turns the familiar elements of “a girl and a gun” on their head.
