“There’s a woozy and seductive quality to Yashaddai Owens’ impressionistic narrative debut.”
—The Guardian

“[Owens] delivers his visions, at times hallucinatory, other times ecstatic, with the sonic guidance of the composer Paco Andreo, who has concocted a delicious score — with its sneaky, seductive snare, brushed cymbals, and double bass — that is evocative of great Black jazz artists.
—The New York Times

At 24, James Baldwin left New York for Paris, where he would spend the next decade writing his early books and immersing himself in the artistic community of the Left Bank. This impressionistic first feature from photographer and filmmaker Yashaddai Owens reimagines a young Baldwin as a flaneur guided by his desires, discovering the city through his senses.
