The name Preston Sturges is synonymous with a certain kind of cinematic comedy. It’s smart and literary but not exactly highbrow. And, while it revels in physical comedy, you couldn’t call it slapstick. Come to think of it, maybe the only way to describe them is “Sturges Films.” Presumably, there are still those among us who love to laugh and think at the same time.
