We’re committed to making AFS Cinema a welcoming and inclusive space for all moviegoers. Here’s what you can expect when you visit:
Getting In and Around
Our entrance, theaters, restrooms, and all public spaces are wheelchair accessible. Both of our theaters include designated wheelchair spots.
Parking
You’ll find reserved accessible parking spots conveniently located next to the cinema in our main lot.
Assistive Devices & Technology
We offer a range of assistive tools at no cost—just stop by the box office and let us know what you need! (Please note that not all films include closed captioning or descriptive audio, so please contact the AFS Cinema box office to inquire about availability.)
- Assistive Listening Devices: Available for all films, these self-contained headphones help amplify audio.
- Closed Captioning Devices: When a film supports it, we provide easy-to-read LED caption screens that attach to your seat’s armrest. Please note: 35mm screenings are not compatible with closed captioning devices. Contact the AFS Cinema box office to inquire whether a film supports closed captioning devices.
- Descriptive Audio: For films with audio description, we offer headphones for patrons who are blind or have low vision. Please note: 35mm screenings are not compatible with descriptive audio devices.
Look for accessibility details and icons on individual film pages at austinfilm.org.
If you have questions ahead of your visit or need additional support, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help make your experience comfortable and enjoyable!
