AFS is currently only accepting applications for the Continuing Education Pathway. Applications for the AFS Internship Pathway and Immersive Training Pathway are now closed.
Courses in Continuing Education are offered free of charge to individuals who wish to expand their technical knowledge and creative skills. Creative industry professionals with 3+ years of working experience are encouraged to apply for this free training pathway. Please note that the application will require all applicants to submit a creative portfolio, a resume, or a LinkedIn account in order to verify their professional experience.
Accepted participants are required to take a minimum of 3 classes during their time in the program. Please indicate in your application which classes you’re interested in getting free access to. Note: Class offerings are subject to change.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Age 18 and older (Must be 18 years old at the start of the program)
- Verifiable 3+ years of working professional media experience
- Commitment to 3 months of self-paced instruction
- Austin Area Resident (Travis, Williamson, Caldwell, Hays, and Bastrop counties)

The 2026 Continuing Education pathway’s program dates are:
Fall 2026
- Session Dates: September 28 – December 18, 2026
- Deadline to Apply: August 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM
- Notified by: September 16, 2026
Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands
Extensive sitting and/or standing, using a computer/laptop, lifting a maximum weight of 50 lbs, following class instructions, creating independent processes, and orienting to the AFS pathway selected are essential requirements of the program.

When you are ready to apply, you may complete the application online.
You will need to make a Submittable account first and will use that to create and complete the application. (Note: You may also use an existing Submittable account.)
You can save a draft of your application at any time and return to it for editing through your Submittable account up until the deadline. Note that applications will NOT be reviewed or considered until officially submitted and must be done so by the deadline.

Please note that this Pathway is not our AFS Producer Program. Any participants in Continuing Education who wish to join the Producer Program will be required to pay the same subscription and class fees as any other member of the public, and take the required classes for certification.
