“For much too long, ‘The Annihilation of Fish’ has been in limbo. It took many years and endless persistence to rescue this beautiful, delicate picture… I’m so happy that it’s finally ready for the world to discover.”
–Martin Scorsese

“It is impossible to not see the film as an essential chapter in one of the substantial careers in modern cinema.”
–IndieWire

“Another Burnett treasure.”
–Rogerebert.com

There is a healthy sense of humor running through director Charles Burnett’s filmography but very little to prepare anyone for this oddball romantic comedy that stars James Earl Jones as a demon-haunted Jamaican immigrant and Lynn Redgrave as an alcoholic woman in love with the ghost of Puccini. Practically buried for 25 years, THE ANNIHILATION OF FISH has now been brought back to the screen in a new restoration.
