Set against the backdrop of a traumatic loss, POETIC JUSTICE stars Janet Jackson as an up-and-coming poet who finds her solace in words. As she begins to heal, she finds romance with Tupac Shakur. The poems read by Jackson are written by Maya Angelou, who also appears in the film as herself. Written and directed by John Singleton. The first screening will be introduced by Singleton biographer Mark D. Cunningham. In 35mm.
This project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant of Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment.
