The National Evening of Science on Screen® this year is something very different. Paul Verhoeven’s ROBOCOP is, in addition to being a violent action film, a fantastic social satire about command and control, with an emphasis on automated systems of policing. Lo and behold, the world is colliding with what had seemed an outlandish scenario. We will welcome a post-screening panel of robotics experts to consider the implications, both mechanical and ethical.
An initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
