SPARED is a deeply moving narrative about the journey of Dr. Clementine Msengi, a survivor of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Thirty years after the atrocities that tore her country apart, Clementine, now an author and professor in the U.S., returns to Rwanda to confront her past, search for what happened to her family, face the perpetrators of the genocide, and continue her healing journey. As she navigates the horrors she endured, “Spared” is a story about healing, the dangers of tribalism, the power of forgiveness, and finding hope in the face of unthinkable trauma. In addition to seeking wide distribution, the film will serve as an educational foundation for Dr. Msengi’s work in education on peace and reconciliation. Additionally, all producers involved in the project have committed that proceeds from the sale of the film will go to starting a non-profit institution
