When Richard Linklater founded AFS in 1985, Austin was a relatively small town, and the idea of building a film community here was still just a dream. Forty years later, thanks to people like you, the Austin Film Society has been able to turn that vision into a reality: we’ve supported hundreds of filmmakers, provided hours of training to aspiring creatives, and have connected with countless cinephiles over our common love of the silver screen.
This summer, we’re celebrating 40 years of what makes AFS so special: our members. Thank you for helping us build a community around film culture.
Through September 2, when you join, renew, upgrade, or gift a membership to AFS, you’ll receive a special gift: all members will receive an exclusive bumper sticker, and those at the LOVE tier and above will receive an AFS 40th-anniversary hat.*
