Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund
The 2011 Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund recipients have been announced!
The 2012 application cycle will begin in the Spring. The application requirements will be very much the same as 2011, so please scroll down to check the 2011 Eligibility and Restrictions. Still have questions? Check out our FAQs.
If you are eligible to apply, here are the steps to complete your application:
- Download the application instructions. You MUST read these thoroughly before preparing your application. We also recommend that you download our proposal and budget examples for guidance (see below).
- Fill out your application cover sheet online.
- Print FOUR copies of your cover sheet and supporting materials, and mail in to AFS with work sample. Supporting material includes:
- Project budget (not to exceed 3 pages - download and fill in our blank budget form or submit your own)
- Project description (not to exceed 3 pages)
- Project timeline (not to exceed 1 page)
- Project personnel (key bios not to exceed 1 page)
- Proof of Texas residency (only 1 copy needed)
- Video work sample (3 copies required, playable DVD's)
- Optional: Additional support materials (letters of recommendation, storyboards, etc.)
- Optional: Treatment or script (3 copies needed if submitted)
- Optional: Notification of receipt
- For past TFPF recipients only: Status Report
- All application materials must be postmarked by June 1 to be considered for the 2011 grant cycle.
DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to fill out your application! Delay and tech issues may occur and this is a competitive program - hasty applications will reflect poorly on your project.
2011 Eligibility and Restrictions
- You must be a resident of Texas and have been a resident since June 1, 2010.
- Application must be made by the creative author of the final work. This is typically defined as the director. Producers, editors, crew people, and writers who are not in creative control of the final project are not eligible to apply. Awards will not be made to organizations. The applicant name(s) will appear with the project on all publicity materials when TFPF 2011 recipients are announced.
- All genres of film or video are given equal consideration.
- Projects must be independent productions. “Independent production” means a production under the artistic, budgetary and editorial control of the individual owning copyright. No consideration will be given to industrial or promotional pieces or “works-for-hire.” Primarily episodic works (television shows, web series) also will not be considered.
- Application must be for the production, post-production or distribution stages. No consideration will be given for applications requesting pre-production or development funds. Applicants requesting funds for distribution must provide footage from the submitted project in their video sample.
- AFS staff, Board members and TFPF interns are ineligible to apply.
Previous TFPF recipients
- TFPF grants a maximum of 2 awards to an individual project. That means you can potentially receive TFPF funding twice (in different years of course) for the same project, for the same or different stages of production.
- Additionally, previous TFPF recipients are not eligible to apply for funding on a new project until the previous project is completed.
