A brilliant account of the absurdities of fascism and war, EUROPA, EUROPA follows a young Jewish boy who is separated from his family at the war’s outset, and begins disguising himself as the enemy in order to survive. Based on a true story, the film earned Holland a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

REVIEWS

“As a personal, autobiographical tale, EUROPA, EUROPA is a fascinating narrative. As a historical memoir, its details are compelling.”Marjorie Baumgarten, The Austin Chronicle

“Holland’s breakthrough into international acclaim, this true account of a Jewish adolescent’s survival on both sides of the lines in World War II is poignant, terrifying, and frequently funny.”Jennifer Merin, Alliance of Women Film Journalists
