Cinema is a remarkable thing. Great directors and screenwriters work hard crafting screenplays and perfecting their mise-en-scene, but the magic of cinema often comes from the performers. When, in a love story, the actors playing the lovers have a special, discernible connection, we call it Chemistry. Here, in a series programmed by Caroline Frick, Associate Professor in the Radio-Television-Film department of the University of Texas and Executive Director of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, we have a selection of films that display this mysterious commodity in full flower. Professor Frick will join us for a special audience discussion after the first screening of each film.
